After 3 long months we have returned! That's Right Dorkside Nexus is back and man do we have a lot to catchup on!

In the time that we have been away we had to part ways with Corey and we spend the first part of this episode  reminiscing about our favorite Favorite moments with Corey over the last couple of years.

After that , we put on our speculative hats as we discuss the possibilities for the Ahsoka show and what the future might hold for the Star Wars timeline.

Super Mario Bros came smashing into theatres this spring  and with the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie and the potential for future Nintendo blockbusters, there's plenty for our fellow video game and movie enthusiasts to get excited about.

As we embark on this new, more organized format, we're eager to bring you consistent, engaging content that's both fun and informative. So grab your favorite beverage, stay hydrated, and let's dive into another exciting episode of Dorkside Nexus!

Speaker 1:

I'm going to be honest with you. I completely and utterly forgot about the Jimmy Neutron opening theme.

Speaker 2:

So you race to the stars to buy candy bars.

Speaker 1:

That's pretty good.

Speaker 2:

No, that was pretty good. I love Jimmy Neutron. Welcome back, guys. Holy shit, has it been a long time, it's it's been way too long. Way too long. Well, we, there's a reason why.

Speaker 1:

But it's, it's, it's been, it's been a hectic. You what months? as it been months, it's been months. So on top of on top of that, you know, there's been a significant amount of changes as well. as you know, we've decided to move more, more so remotely, because you know it's a little bit friendlier on my gas tank and on my wallet, as Tanner lives about an hour and 15 minutes away from where I. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And I have all of the stuff here in my studio. As you can see, you know nerd stuff everywhere. The newest addition, however, is this Darth Vader canvas, which looks absolutely fantastic up. But yeah, this is where. This is where Dorkside Nexus has been recording for the last few years is in my spare bedroom.

Speaker 1:

I mean you made, you made it work.

Speaker 2:

It's still. it's definitely still an option, i mean. so things have changed around Dorkside Nexus. as you guys could see, it's just Brooksy and I. A little while ago we Corey decided it was in I It's hard to say this, but we decided it was time to make a change and really put some hardcore focus on it. And Corey unfortunately has some other things going on in his life so he can't focus on the podcast in a way that is going to be productive for future growth. So he's going to be. he's stepping aside for now. for the time being, the door is not closed. He's always welcome back, but for now it's just myself and Brooksy going to be the host of Dorkside Nexus.

Speaker 1:

So we also amongst the void of unfortunate Corey's departing. We've also decided to break up our layout for each episode in a much more organized fashion. That way you guys receive content in a lot more cleaner, organized way. That way you can look forward to our episodes a lot more neat and orderly.

Speaker 2:

Well, one of the big things over the last two years of doing the show has been very much. It's very hard to balance everyone's schedules and get together in person, which made it so that releases were very sporadic. They weren't consistent by any way. It made it so we couldn't really plan what we were doing, and that's just by the nature of everyone has their own lives. We, you know, we have our significant others, we have our jobs, we have family in general, and so for us to try to navigate we get three of us together when one of us lives over an hour away from the other people was very difficult And we're going to a format now that will be very much concise and have the same thing every episode.

Speaker 2:

It will be new topics and new cool things to talk about, but the format will be exactly the same And it's. It's sad to see Corey go. It really is, because I started this with him and Brooksie, i love you, but You know he was the one that I started it with, so it is very bittersweet to see him go in the orders for us to move on with the podcast in a more productive way. No, i completely get that.

Speaker 1:

And you know, for me being on for a short amount of time and then for Hinton to say, hey, i'm going to be on for a short amount of time And to say, hey, stuff's going on for me right now. I need to take a step back. You know it is unfortunate, but you know we commend him very much for focusing on what he needs to focus on right now in his life. So, like you said, eventually down the road the door is open.

Speaker 2:

So he'll be back, we'll, you'll see. He's that gone forever. He'll be in periodically. we may do some guest appearances, with Corey coming back, but he's always a part of the family here, with Dorkside Nexus, always a big part of it and is always welcome. It's just he has things that he needs to do at this time. Yep, absolutely, oh. With that being said, one of the big changes is we are going to do a rotating for episode format And what that means is we are throughout the month we are going to. Each week of a month is going to be dedicated to a different thing. So week one could be dedicated to movies and television shows and what's going on there, like our wrap ups, our reviews of stuff and what we've been watching. Week to, you know, could focus on video games and what in that realm. It's something that Brooksy and I are big into his video games. I mean, i still can't play a from software game without wanting to blow my goddamn brains out, but I can't help.

Speaker 1:

I'm sorry, i can't help.

Speaker 2:

Listen, I say that I don't like myself, but I like myself enough to not play the from software games anymore.

Speaker 1:

I don't know what to tell you. They're, they're great games And you know, if you, if you're a big fan, then great. If not, just just give it a try, just give it the old college try. I I firmly, if I can beat it, you can beat it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's, it's. I don't know, i can't, i can't justify playing it because I get so angry about every time just running around. It's so, so angry. I put like 12 hours into Elden Ring and I never beat the first boss. Okay, okay, i kept. Well, i kept like level, trying to level myself up, and I'm like, oh, i'm going to do it this time And I just kept getting smoked. I'm like you know what First boss? if I can't beat him after 12 hours, this game's not for me.

Speaker 1:

Well, i don't know what to tell you at that point. Then you might have to figure something out.

Speaker 2:

Well, dude, I'm kind of a bitch when it comes to my video games. My God, you're talking to the guy that played on casual difficulty For the longest time, because I'm just like, I'm just here for the story and a little bit of combat man.

Speaker 1:

I mean, as long as you're having fun and enjoying the game, i'm not going to, i'm not going to give you too much of a hard time about it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah Well, one of the other. it's just a video games. I play video games for fun, not to hate myself.

Speaker 1:

Fair enough. Fair enough One. you know we, tanner and I did do the game corner segment with. we're kind of just using Dorsi with game corner in one. So for one episode we're going to focus more on games. So in the future, if there's something that you guys want us to talk about, let us know on any one of our social media platforms. That way Tanner and I can look into it and research it and we can discuss it. One thing that Tanner and I are also going to we're going to talk about for one week We're going to discuss print media. So that's comics, books, art and etc. That we see out on social media as well as out in the world that catches our attention like, oh, we should definitely talk about that. That looks really interesting. We should definitely mention that in an episode. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And I think you and I even had the idea that that's the one that may change month to month, because there might not be enough news on that, one That might go more towards geared towards tech here or whatever, or it might. We're going to figure that specific week out. That's going to be the hardest one. But at the end of every month we're going to do a monthly wrap up and we want to talk about the shows that have come out, what we've been watching, what's. If we even if we talked about it earlier in the in the month we're going to come back and wrap up, give our final thoughts, because more information always comes out. I mean everyone on the Internet where there are a bunch of sleuths. The moment something's announced, we have to know every little detail about it.

Speaker 1:

Not just that but say, you know, the first episode drops in, like say the month of August, of one show that's coming out, and then we, you know, tanner and I decided we're going to talk about that the first week. And then you know, at the end of the month we could say that episodes two and three. you know, two was really good but three was, you know, not that great.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

So we're you know we're leaving it open to discuss more on media at hand.

Speaker 2:

Yep, and periodically, like in the past. The other thing that's happened with Dorkside Nexus is it hasn't been consistent which day of the week I guess released. Again, it would come down to what day of the week we recorded it and how quickly I could turn around, get it edited and get it released. And that varied because it would. If I recorded it on a Wednesday and wanted it out for Friday, it was going to crunch it. Or if I recorded it over the weekend and wanted it out for Monday, it was a crunch as well. We're going to be moving this to dropping every Monday. You'll have the episode available to download at early the wee morning hours every Monday. That is the new goal, and we're also going to actively appear on social media. Finally, i myself, it notoriously say I dislike social media. It just infuriates me because sometimes it just feels like you're I don't know how to say this yelling down a hallway, yeah, yelling down a hallway Sometimes, yeah.

Speaker 1:

No, that's. That's a pretty good analogy to put it. I understand.

Speaker 2:

I understand the importance of it. I do, it's just for I think back to probably our high school days, when people would just air out all their dirty laundry on Facebook, and I think that really was the point in my life where I said I don't like social media.

Speaker 1:

No, i completely agree. I mean, there's some days where I'm just like I'll open up Facebook and I'm like, yeah, i'm done for the day.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's, that's it. I also dislike Facebook these days. I think Facebook is terrible. I only go on it because it has some local news to where I live And like there's always somebody talking about Hey, where are the cops going?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, that's pretty much it.

Speaker 2:

Or Hey, did you hear about the accident? I'm like God. Do you guys have anything better to do than just hang out on social media and just talk about shit?

Speaker 1:

Oh, no, no, never, never gossip, gossip, gossip.

Speaker 2:

I mean, that's kind of what I I love gossip. Let's be real. I am so nosy I have to know all the juicy details, part of the like. I hear something at work and I like popped my head out of the office and I who did what? now You're not telling me something, what's?

Speaker 1:

going on. Who did that? What story do I need to be a?

Speaker 2:

part of. Why are you not involving me? This is this. Come on, i need to know Now. But social media is just. Facebook, especially, is a scary place in my opinion.

Speaker 1:

I it always, it always is, it always is. But we, like, like Tanner said, we are gonna try to, on a more frequent basis, be a lot more active on Twitter, our Facebook and Instagram, yeah, and TikTok.

Speaker 2:

If I can ever figure out if I ever have the confidence to make a video that I find is funny. It's part of the reason I don't like TikTok is like I don't post anything on TikTok is because I had don't have the confidence to make a TikTok video no, i'm with you there, i'm with up with you there.

Speaker 2:

It's okay, don't worry about it well, i mean, i guess that's enough of the somber stuff and about the plans for the future, because we've been trying to come back to it for a while now and it just has been busy. And it's also hard to come back to something where you have to cut out somebody, that when it's with somebody that you care about and you started it with, has to cut out for what little while that's. It's really hard, so it's been partially me pushing it off, pushing it off, pushing it off because it doesn't feel the same and it's not that it that's not a bad thing.

Speaker 1:

That's not a bad thing at all the feelings just different it's not a bad thing and I and I in my, my own right. I am not a hundred percent replacing- no, no where I just I cannot. I will not say that because that's 100% not true.

Speaker 2:

I mean, i cannot replace no, and it's gonna be hard to. It's gonna be hard to have for anybody to replace Cory and I think we I don't even think I brought that idea up to you. I briefly floated that idea in my own head of finding someone else to fill that void, but I just didn't feel right. It felt like it was the most wrong thing I could do no, and I, i don't blame you, i really don't.

Speaker 2:

So like I said, cory will be back in some capacity. It's just for the time being. Here we are.

Speaker 1:

We are dorkside Nexus, tyler Brooks and myself so we, because we've been away for such a long time, we've had quite a few events were just. I'm gonna mention them now.

Speaker 2:

And then we have a couple things that are upcoming, so one of which that happened was the Star Wars celebration oh my god, dude, like that happened, i think the time when it was when around when Cory was leaving, like, so we were able to talk about that pretty much and I I'm pretty sure all three of us were like biting our tongues because we were like we really want to talk about it because of all the content that they're gonna be releasing and that they had or planned to release within the next foreseeable future yeah so one of one of the shows that I'm actually I'm actually kind of surprised to see, is I just and this, this is just my opinion as I rewatched it is we are getting a, we're getting a second season for and, or which.

Speaker 2:

I think they said they originally it was what three seasons and then they combined the last two to wrap it up, or something like that. Something like that this is where I miss Cory the most. He knew all of these juicy details it's, it's true.

Speaker 1:

So, apparently, according to and this is, this is on the post, ladies and gentlemen, apparently this has been said and I quote the show is an origin story of Rogue One's Cassian and or in his rebellious journey, premiered its first season in September of last year and received glowing reviews from fans and critics alike, despite an apparent lack of viewership yeah, well, it's a very different Star Wars show and we've talked about that at length.

Speaker 2:

As to how it, how different it is for a Star Wars product, it's, it's slow, it's methodical. It shows what I mean. It's just different.

Speaker 1:

It's not big and grandiose and it's there's a couple like yeah, there's the heist, but it's not overall a big, grandiose event well, yes, but it shows a much more darker like well, not darker, but it does show the what the average citizen of the galactic Empire's reign has to deal with. And Cassian it shows what Cassian goes through and it shows kind of like, alright, well, we have, we've talked about it before. So if you're, if you're unsure, look at some of our previous episodes and we've broken it down and a lot more of a broader spectrum with Tanner Corey and myself yeah, well, you know, tyler, i'm gonna have to say oh my god, i called you by your first name.

Speaker 1:

That felt that was gross um, called me by my government name yeah, that was horrible.

Speaker 2:

One of the things we actually have to kick ourselves for is we jumped right into celebration without talking about the wrap-up and Mandalorian season three that's true. That's true you know season three was of Mandalorian was I understand why some people had a harder time with it? I really did, because season two set up so many things, even at the end of it, and season three really just serves the purpose to tie up loose ends that were introduced in those first two seasons, as well as in book of Boba Fett.

Speaker 1:

Yes, it was clearing the board, so to speak, so we can get back to Din Jarin's journey, because this one really focused on the Mandalorian people as a whole, not just our Mandalorian which I think, which I kind of think, that in season two it was starting to widen the I guess you could say the view of the Mandalorian people as a whole, whereas season three it really wide the view as a whole, yeah, and we were seeing episodes with Din as well as Bo Katon and any other Mandalorian that we have seen in previous episodes listen, i I did not really simp for miss Bo Katon until this season, like she became mommy.

Speaker 2:

She became mommy. It's like they definitely let's be real, they definitely use that camera and focused a lot on her high and quarters when she was walking this season, uh, compared to season two.

Speaker 1:

Yeah yeah, probably probably.

Speaker 2:

I was like. I was like Din's dad, bo's mom yeah, pretty pretty much yeah, there were some definite hits and misses throughout that entire season. I really thought the Jack Black episode was a completeness, like I was like nope, hate this it was.

Speaker 1:

It was a very, it was a very peculiar episode. I mean, we had Jack Black, we had Lizzo and we had the actor who plays Doc Brown.

Speaker 2:

I'm drawing a blank on him right now my god, why am I drawing a blank too?

Speaker 1:

yeah now look them up real quick.

Speaker 2:

Christopher Lloyd. We deserve we don't deserve to be talking about nerdy things if we can't talk about it remember that name.

Speaker 1:

I know it's true, i'm ashamed of myself, yeah, so am. I. It's a great trilogy, the great, all three of our pretty awesome movies.

Speaker 2:

But the third one. Really, i like the third one. It's the one that I want. I cannot suffer through the third one anymore.

Speaker 1:

It is literally suffering for me, uh, no, i like the third one it's a lot of plus plus. I mean, come on, look at what happened in a million ways to die in the West. They had, they had, they had him make an appearance yeah, with the time machine. See, you got that, which okay, but that does not make the movie good.

Speaker 2:

Okay, when I watch the third back to the future movie, i have the same feelings that I do about last Jedi and Rises Skywalker.

Speaker 1:

I'm like oh my god, i gotta go. Boy. If Cory was here, you already know he's probably easing like crazy, right?

Speaker 2:

now? I hope so. Every time I slander the sequel trilogy I hope he his ears start ringing. I mean, i know he's not a sequel trilogy fan himself, but he's heard me slander them so many times. He just has to know what I'm doing. It. Goodness gracious me, he just has to know. At this point, oh my lord, no, but Mandalorian season 3. I really enjoyed it. I loved the culture aspect being brought into the Star Wars cinematic universe with the culture of the Mandalorians yeah.

Speaker 1:

No, it was as a whole a really good. As a whole it was a really good close to the series and we get to see a lot of people get their redemption and you know as much as you know as conflicted. I was in the first season with him, but I definitely appreciate Paz Vizsla yeah, no, paz Vizsla.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that was the arc they gave. Paz Vizsla is it's not like top tier, but it's upper echelons yeah, but yes it's, it's up there. In my opinion he's like top in the top 10 yeah, so obviously at the end of that series we see the official demise of Moff Gideon. Thank God, i was so tired of that dangling over us again like it was.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's true, i thought it was done.

Speaker 2:

I thought it was done in the at the end of the second season, so that felt just like another. That was another thing that I felt was very cheap was Moff Gideon coming back the way he was, but I guess it makes sense with his obsession for Mandalore like it made sense.

Speaker 1:

I agree with the arc they were writing but it is what it is.

Speaker 2:

I can't complain. Overall, i enjoyed the season. It had some really high moments. For me, obviously, the mythosaur was like the coolest thing. But yeah, it's din grogu now. Hello. I was like, oh hi, that that's it's din grogu. Right, that's what they, that's the what his name is now yeah, so he.

Speaker 1:

He officially has been named by the armorer and their I want to say their clan.

Speaker 2:

Yes, din grogu, yeah, i was. I'm totally okay with that. But have we so, going back to now that we're done with Mando, we can talk about celebration? they didn't announce another season of it at celebration, right? they just announced a day for loony, a day for loony movie. Tie that stuff together, right?

Speaker 1:

yeah they tied it in, but they did have quite a lot of teasers in regards to the connections to the Ahsoka show.

Speaker 2:

I'll thank God, dude I the Ahsoka trailer.

Speaker 1:

I know because it sounds like what they're doing with the Ahsoka show, as well as the eventual movie that we will get for the Mandalorian, which is almost like like a Star Wars MCU. Yeah, we're probably. It seems Ahsoka's focus and this was in earlier, an earlier episode of season 2 of Mandalorian was Ahsoka was looking for Grand Admiral Thrawn yep and, for those who have read the heir to the Empire trilogy, we got to see the back of the headshot of Ron himself. So a lot of us who have watched Rebels, a lot of us who have read the Timothy's on books, we're really looking forward to seeing him on the big screen and it seems like they're taking a lot of the notations and plot from the Timothy's on series and they're combining it into into canon yep.

Speaker 2:

Well, the some of the other I can't. I just can't wait for that because we got, like I said, we got, the Thrawn name drop in Mandalorian season 3, which I was I knew we weren't gonna get much more than that. We got one name drop at season 2 and we got one name drop in season 3. We know Ahsoka is focusing on that, and so I can't wait to see him. Obviously, i think it's gonna be awesome to see him live. But one of the other things that was announced and there were mixed feelings about this one, but I actually am okay with it is Daisy Ridley's returning to play Ray as a Jedi Master rebuilding the Jedi Order.

Speaker 1:

I mean I'm glad that Daisy Ridley is getting more of, she's getting more Star Wars media. I just I don't really see the point of continuing her character.

Speaker 2:

So my problem is I have nothing against Daisy Ridley. I have nothing really against her for anything to do with that. I think she did great for what she was given. She has given a character that had no plans. They didn't know what the hell her backstory was going to be Nothing, So she did a great job. Being thrown to the wolves and just saying I'm going to do the best I can.

Speaker 1:

No, I agree as well.

Speaker 2:

So her coming back. In that sense, i'm totally fine with Give her another chance, give her a real script and a real writing, and I think she'll shine. My problem now is I feel like they are giving her Luke's old legend storyline, which, yeah, I.

Speaker 1:

that's my problem, be that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, which my big problem. That's it, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, i think that I think that's going to be a thing that they are going to implement. And there's a lot of There is a lot of time between episode six and episode seven, so I don't see why they can't do that with just Luke himself.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how it goes. I mean, as Corey and I discussed on a previous episode we've all discussed this one is like they introduce ideas in the comics that they end up throwing out for when they bring them into the movies, tv shows, but they keep the kind of general ideas. So I think that there's some stuff that we'll see from the comics that We'll get changed, like there was the rise of Kylo Ren comics. So I think you'll see some of that stuff change, but I don't know. Like I said, my biggest concern is very much the fact that they were probably going to give her Luke's original story. It is what it is. I don't have to like it, that's. That's the one problem I have with it, for sure.

Speaker 1:

I'm, i'm, i'm with you in agreement, but I'm also going to counter with It's a time will tell kind of project. We will see what happens, because they might it might be good, who knows? So, so, speaking of the Ahsoka show, unfortunately Ray Stevenson had passed away for even a month.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Ray Stevenson was going to play a character by the name of Balan Skull Yep, and he has been in thus far Punisher of Warzone, which is a Marvel project, and he has also been in the first Thor movie As well as the other guys. He is voiced a character in Star Wars Rebels Yep. He's also in Thor Ragnarok and Thor the Dark World, just just to name a few. Yeah, that he's been in.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he, he died before that aired, which is very tragic. At the time of this recording, it was like a week and a half ago he died. So That's a Interest. It's unfortunate And I want to see. I really can't wait to see what his character is like when Ahsoka airs.

Speaker 1:

And yeah, Yeah, no, i agree, and as as it is to see him go, i think that they're going to do a good job of honoring the character, the very last character he betrays, as Yep, um, other big news that we have Obviously we have a few movies coming out.

Speaker 2:

We got more on the accolade. I can't wait to see how that goes. They gave more information to the on the accolade, so that'll be a really interesting storyline. When that is that going to be a movie or a show? Do we remember?

Speaker 1:

Accolade. Yeah, so it sounds like. And this is still on the post. It sounds like. First look at the series. So it sounds like a like a show, yeah, yeah, and this, this is taking place before the prequel era.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, this is like the in between. This is like the tail end of the High Republic, going into like episode one Those years like.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think that's. Yeah, I want to say right around the end of High Republic is about 200 to pretty much episode one, which was what like 25.

Speaker 2:

BBY. Oh my God, dude, i wear it. I just can't. I can't remember on that, but yeah, something like that, The. So that'll be good. There is also a movie going back, way back to focusing on, like the beginning of the Jedi and the force and all that stuff that was announced.

Speaker 1:

I don't remember that being announced.

Speaker 2:

Oh, bruxy, bruxy, Bruxy. Oh man, where was it? Who is? I'm looking at the article Three films, one to be directed, james Marigold, dave Filoni and Charmine avoid Chinoy butchered that. So the director of Logan and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dynast destiny will go back to the dawn of the Jedi. Ok, so James Manne mangled, who directed Logan, is getting the dawn of the Jedi movie And there was a blurb at an image from celebration where it had the Star Wars timeline And they're acknowledging the older public.

Speaker 2:

So obviously we're going to get content from that period there. Now we have the higher public. We have the fall of the Jedi, the rise of the Empire, the age of the rebellion, the new era, the age of the rebellion, the new Republic and the first order They have since. That's kind of the timeline that they've been operating with. They have since now added, after the rise of the first order, the new Jedi order. Again, i think they're giving Ray Luke's storyline And then all the way back at the beginning, they have the dawn of the Jedi added to the timeline.

Speaker 1:

So this is? this is just a random Google search. I'm seeing it here now. It's on IMDB. It is actually just called Star Wars Dawn of the Jedi And it is a prequel that retraces the origins of the force and the birth of the Jedi order.

Speaker 2:

Let's go, Tython, Let's go.

Speaker 1:

I know which we're going back to, the pretty much the very deep core of the galaxy, which is where Ashla was captured in Mandalorian Season two by Moff Gideon on the planet Tython in the Tython system And they're going to redefine the phrase a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, oh my God So it's probably going to say not long ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Speaker 2:

Oh boy, Yeah, this is. I'm very intrigued to see how this goes. Those are kind of things that I've always wanted to see brought into live action, So into the movies it'll.

Speaker 1:

it'll be good to see it, because I've done a lot of research on pretty much the origins of the Jedi order And at that point it was called something else completely different.

Speaker 2:

The Jedi order. Yes, it was spelled pronounced similarly, spelled differently. And yeah, it was. it'll be interesting to see how they do that. There's a lot of YouTube videos you can watch on that. I am not going to go out here and try to explain it because there's a lot of deep lore that you can go find on that. So those are some of the big things that I'm looking forward to from Star Wars. Kathleen Kennedy says all the movies are actually pretty far along into the production stage. We'll see what that means. She has been caught with her pants down so many times announcing things like the Rangers of the Republic movie and all that stuff, the rogue squadron stuff. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

But I think why we're not getting too many trailers of. We're not. We're only getting announcements of stuff that's been confirmed Versus. We're getting a lot of announcements, We're getting a lot of posts on social media And then six to eight months later it gets canceled because such and such because she's too soon. They Yeah, yeah Speaks way too soon.

Speaker 2:

I'm pretty sure she got like there were rumblings that she got in trouble for that after Bob Iger came back, when they when Disney canned Bob JPEG. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I did hear something about that.

Speaker 2:

No, there were some rumblings about that. I can't really speak to some of the movies that have dropped. We're going to move away from Star Wars and Star Wars Celebration.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's fine to me.

Speaker 2:

I haven't seen the two biggest releases that have come out, and that would be Guardians 3 and across the Spiderverse.

Speaker 1:

So I I'm not going to say much on those because I've seen them both and I don't want to spoil Guardians 3 for you. Yeah, spiderverse.

Speaker 2:

I don't care if it gets spoiled.

Speaker 1:

honestly, So it's a it's a great. It's a great film. It's it's very sad. It's very sad. It's a lot of background on Rocket, yeah, there's there's a lot of.

Speaker 1:

When I watched it, there's a lot of points where I was at the edge of my seat Like who's who's going to bite it, who's who's going to die, and there's there's a lot of moments that are like that We do see a lot are all of our characters come back for Guardians 3.

Speaker 1:

And there's a lot of. There's not just a lot of like just sadness, but there's a lot of anger in the, in the movie as a whole And like there are points where I was watching it and I was like man, this guy just he just needs to like stop, like I hope that when I hope this do got snapped, when they know snapped, like this guy was, this guy was not a nice dude. Yeah, i've heard that. And, believe me, when you know you, you watch a movie and you're you're thinking man, you know why is this? Why is this guy doing this? Like, what, what? what are you thinking? Like, what, what, what is the overall? what is the overall? like, what is? what is your motive here? And you, i'm trying to look up the actor's name, who or who played the Main villain here.

Speaker 2:

I know, i, i've seen, i know who you're talking about.

Speaker 1:

I know while you're in Wuji. Yeah, he, he did a great job portraying the villain of the film, and when you know an actor or an actress is portraying a character really well enough, that's because you probably hate in their guts.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, exactly We. So I need to Clarify this. I took a new position at work that honestly really makes it so it doesn't make sense for me to go to the movies. I have a position where I'm on call pretty much all the time, So and I would have to answer my phone and deal with something.

Speaker 2:

So going out to the movies is something I cannot do myself anymore, because some situations may take Only a few minutes to solve via a phone call, or some situations can take upwards of an hour. They're very rare, but I just don't want that to happen on a night when I would go out to the movies and I would miss all of the move, spend the money to go to the movies and everyone else gets a call And everyone else gets to see it, while I have to deal with work stuff outside. So for me going to the movies is pretty much out, and that's another reason why we're changing the format of the show, so that way We can get all the information that is prevalent to you guys without Relying on the fact that I need to have seen the movies.

Speaker 1:

Let's look at it this way There's always Redbox. When it eventually does go to Redbox, it'll be significantly cheaper.

Speaker 2:

It'll be significantly cheaper. I can watch it in the comfort of my own home. As much as I love going to the movies, there's something about watching it in the comfort of your own home. We can actually pause it as I use the utility knife that is sitting on my desk as a remote. But so that's a big thing Why I haven't seen anything and why I'll probably be. Although Star Wars movies will still get, i will still say no, not answering the phone tonight. It's somebody else's responsibility. Click, it's just not happening.

Speaker 1:

So there's that. Tanner and I did see separately the Dungeons and Dragons movie. Oh my God, oh my God, and if I know, if you're kind of dabbling and thinking about playing it, i recommend it. It's, it's a hilarious movie. If you're a fan and have been playing D&D since goodness first edition. Watch it, it's hilarious, it's really funny.

Speaker 1:

I had a good time and there's a lot of. There's a couple of instances where there's campaigns that I've played in. I don't want to say too much because my roommate hasn't seen it and he's in the next room, so I just want to say for those who haven't watched it, go watch it. Another movie that I know Tanner has not seen, but I actually thought it was a good movie, was the Super Mario Brothers movie. Now it's. I've heard such good things about this I went to.

Speaker 2:

I went to see Dungeons and Dragons on premiere weekend of the Mario movie and I'm not kidding, That theater was full of people saying Mario, Mario, Mario. I'm like dude, Dungeons and Dragons just came out last weekend. No one wants to see this. What the fuck.

Speaker 1:

It's it and I for me, who have seen both there, like they're both really good. I mean right now Mario, the Mario Brothers movie. Their gross earnings is, at one point, three billion, holy shit Why is that the highest grossing animated movie?

Speaker 2:

I believe it is That's.

Speaker 1:

that's nutty to me, dude.

Speaker 2:

Like that's absolutely nutty that we are now.

Speaker 1:

So it's still OK. So number one worldwide is still frozen. Oh my God, But that's dude, i mean, but domestic. Glee, the Mario Brothers movie has toppled it, toppled that by a lot.

Speaker 2:

And it's amazing to me that we have not seen it. I mean, there's still some time. It's still in the theaters worldwide, so it will probably get Last past because it's a Nintendo product. But that's just so cool to me that Nintendo is like no, we're going to have a studio now, we're going to start making movies. And right out of the gate they are swinging for the fences and coming after Disney and Pixar. Oh they're they're.

Speaker 1:

they're not holding back. They even Nintendo even asked on all social media platforms would you guys like us to do another series? And literally it exploded, and I for one would love to see a Legend of Zelda movie.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, i Legend of Zelda. I think would be phenomenal. It would just be so hard, because what story do you tell with Zelda? I mean, they've told so many different stories And now, with Tears of the Kingdom out it, you have a continuation of your breath, of the wild story. Do you go more of a Twilight Princess vibe, or an Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker or a Skyward Sword? I mean, there's so many ones that you could do and it makes it really difficult to figure out, to write that type of story.

Speaker 1:

Well, to plan what they're going to do, i feel like a lot of people are probably going to if they had the option to vote, because it's nostalgic. I feel like a lot of people are going to pick Ocarina of. Time.

Speaker 2:

Yep, Oh, I watched this clip. I find it on TikTok. You'll find this funny. It was Stone Cold, Steve Austin and somebody else. And it's asking what's the best Zelda game of all time? The other dude in the interview goes Ocarina of Time. Stone Cold looks at him and goes what? No, it's Breath of the Wild. And the dude reacts to the video going I live in a universe where Stone Cold plays Zelda games.

Speaker 1:

Yep, we have. We have officially reached that point. And what a time to be alive, right? So there's those. There's those two movies. I'm not going to say too much on them. Recently, what released was Across the Spiderverse.

Speaker 2:

Now I can only imagine, how good that was. I can only imagine.

Speaker 1:

I was for watching that in theaters. It was awesome, It was a great movie. There were a few things where, kind of towards the end, they were kind of like uh no, uh no, Where we thought it was going to end And but for me personally, I'm going to say a 9.5.

Speaker 2:

Really that good. See, i loved Into the Spiderverse. I thought it was fantastic. There wasn't really much of a way even if I didn't have this job that you could get me to the theater to see this, because it's just it's not the type of movie that gets me going to the theater. I understand why you ran and to go see it and took the opportunity to go see it in theaters. Oh yeah, it's just not that type of movie for me. I, like I said Dungeons and Dragons was. There's definitely Dungeons and Dragons, yeah, just the sea dragon.

Speaker 1:

No, i know you're going back to it, but I was doing this when we had your Memorial Day get together, Just the whole part with, i wonder how many? takes. it took for Chris Pine, for those who have seen it, when he does that record scratch where he's like break, break, break, break. I, when I saw that, i was crying My friend. Garrett, next to me. He was crying of laughter. I couldn't breathe. It was so funny. Somebody wrote that one, The guard was like what man is? this Just makes it even better.

Speaker 2:

I think that the, for me, is subtle, but my favorite part was when, well what? the Paladin turns to walk away, yeah, turns to walk away. There's a giant rock and Chris Pine completely ad libs it. Because the no one heard, no one thought, knew that the camera was still running. They yelled cut and they just kept going. The other guy didn't hear. It Just keeps walking. Oh he's, he just can walk right over that rock. Yep, he just walked right over that rock, straight line over the rock Boom.

Speaker 1:

No problem, just, and they're like all right, he's just going over it.

Speaker 2:

And it wasn't even in the script and it fits so perfectly for that.

Speaker 1:

It's, it's a really, it's a really good film. Again, i recommend it. If you're not a fan, it's. It's still a really hilarious movie, oh.

Speaker 2:

I think that I mean, those are like the big movies that we would have been interested in seeing in the in the last few months.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Oh yeah, oh yeah, definitely Guardians 3. Across the Spiderverse. Super Mario and Zamung Honor among thieves. I don't. I for one have always enjoyed Nintendo. I know Corey said he isn't much of a fan and hasn't really played any Nintendo games I loved.

Speaker 2:

So Nintendo's for me is very hit or miss, and it always has been fair.

Speaker 1:

That's fair.

Speaker 2:

I was too young to really appreciate Ocarina of Time when it came out and when I wanted to start playing Zelda games. Wind Waker was the first, was the one that just released for the GameCube And I hated that animation. I hated the visuals of that game so much you could not get me to play it, because Ocarina of Time it, even though it was an older game for an older system. It just felt like it, like watching other people play it. It looked like a bigger, better game and I never wanted to play Wind Waker because of that.

Speaker 1:

I never really liked the tune style myself. But to each their own.

Speaker 2:

Now really My favorite Zelda games. Sorry to everyone that I will. I sorry, sorry, it's Twilight Princess. Get absolutely fucked. Twilight Princess is, in my opinion, the best Legend of Zelda game. Wipe that. Look off your face, brooksy.

Speaker 1:

No, i'm trying to think Honestly. The very first Zelda game I played was, believe it or not, ocarina of Time. It was the predecessor, a link to the past. So a friend of mine had it on his Super Nintendo and I played it for maybe like five minutes and I was like I don't know what this game is, but I'm having a good time, did you?

Speaker 2:

know that Link was the only left-handed video gaming character we had for the longest time. What Yeah? So from his inception, from the very first Legend of Zelda game up until Twilight Princess, link was left-handed. But Twilight Princess came out and they wanted it for the Wii and the majority of people are right-handed. So after Twilight Princess, link became right-handed.

Speaker 1:

That's just weird to me.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's nutty Like I never thought about it. You don't think about that stuff.

Speaker 1:

Well, a little fun fact for the day, I guess A little fun fact.

Speaker 2:

But Twilight Princess, my favorite and, in my opinion, the best Legend of Zelda game. I understand why everyone loves Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. My problem with Breath of the Wild is I felt the world was too big with not enough stuff in it.

Speaker 1:

You think Breath of the Wild is too big Boy.

Speaker 2:

Well, i don't think that it's too big, but my problem is I felt like there was not enough stuff in it for the. There were plenty of shrines. That's not what I'm saying, but what I meant is like from point A to point B I could go quite a distance without running into an enemy and it really pissed me off, like it was an unreasonable amount of time in my opinion.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, okay, That that is fair.

Speaker 2:

However, it felt empty at times. That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1:

It felt empty When you play tears they, they amp, they fix that problem in tears.

Speaker 2:

Oh, thank God, I will get to play it.

Speaker 1:

That you have. you have not just one, but you have three maps. So yeah It's, it's a big game.

Speaker 2:

I want to play tears simply because I've I've I understand that you can commit war crimes in tears of the kingdom.

Speaker 1:

100%. They're just for those, for those who are like what do you mean war crime?

Speaker 2:

Just go on TikTok or YouTube and war crimes, like, yeah, anything like tears You're looking to work up war crimes.

Speaker 1:

And I guarantee you, I literally saw a guy build a car with. it looked like a scarab where the ends of it had spikes and then had flamethrowers inside the spikes And he was mowing down a coblins and moblins like they were nothing.

Speaker 2:

So, I saw some The dude, it's wild.

Speaker 1:

It's it's nuts, and.

Speaker 2:

I think my favorite one was. my favorite one was the dude who built a like W W E Hell in a cell that had like spitting blades in it and was just dropping it on enemies There's there's one guy built a.

Speaker 1:

He built what he called the Lionel lawnmower. It's literally like a floating blade that wax the Lionel in its head multiple times before it dies, and I'm just like my goodness at this point. It's Zelda asking Ganondorf to stop.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, i mean, i don't think when they were developing this they knew they had to have known what they were.

Speaker 1:

without a doubt, they definitely know.

Speaker 2:

It's like how can we make these people I don't know? It's like how can we make this game better? Let's let people just torture. innocence, innocent correct.

Speaker 1:

You guys ever play a game called Minecraft. Well, guess what? We're putting that in Zelda.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, exactly. Oh, I already has it. She hasn't put too much time in it. I haven't picked it up yet. I've been too busy playing Jedi Survivor, which I think is a great game, but we'll go into that over. We'll go more into that on an episode of our video game week.

Speaker 2:

Tanner took the liberty of looking up recent Lego Star Wars box sets Announcements, because I mean, let's be real Like Star Wars has the best Lego sets, they really do. Although I do want the Rivendell one, i do want the Lord of the Rings Rivendell set.

Speaker 1:

That is a nice set. I will agree with you on that. So we're going to start with the first one, the ghost from Star Wars Rebels that has one that has a price tag of $140 and has almost 1400 pieces. What's signed me up to? what's next right now? What's next is the, at the same price, but at 11, nearly 1100 pieces, is the Republic gunship, which I mean. come on, republic gunship. Who wouldn't want that? What the big golden ticket, the golden ticket with this. I am so angry. The price tag is $650, but with 5374 pieces, ladies and gentlemen, we are finally getting a Beneter class.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, ucs one, an ultimate collector series, one which, like they had one released years ago from with, and I came with palps and a couple of the Senate troopers and whatnot, but this is the one that I wanted. I want to build this so bad.

Speaker 1:

I just want to spend a day just watching Star Wars and just build it, Dude, I don't think we'd get through building it in a day.

Speaker 2:

I don't even like, And that'd be. The problem is like you'd have to I. When I do with Legos it has to be as close to one session as possible.

Speaker 1:

I will stay up until two or four to four in the morning If I have to to fucking finish a Lego set you're determined, because when I, when my parents got me a Lego Imperial class Star Destroyer, I took like two days but I took my time with it. I really made sure everything was right and correct And listen if.

Speaker 2:

I didn't get into him. I didn't get into him until already bought me a Lego set not that long ago And now I'm obsessed. I've got in my office at work. I've got the the Luke's X-Wing right right on a right next to my desk at work. All right, I got to have it. My boss will come in and sit there and he goes. My kids got into Legos. I didn't like him until like until I had kids and I really love Legos. Now I'm like, yeah, bro, they're sick. I didn't know it either. I didn't know either, Like it's a model, that it's a puzzle with instructions. It's perfect for me.

Speaker 1:

No, i, i grew up with him. I grew up with him all the time and my parents, probably every birthday or every Christmas, would get me something new and they'd be like where are you? I'm already building it. Well, i was fast. Hey, what can I say? I want to get this thing done.

Speaker 2:

I got the X-Wing in a very unique way, so Ari's got a younger cousin who's about not, he's about nine years old, nine or 10. Now, i don't remember how old he is. And for Christmas he got three I'm not getting three of the same exact X-Wing, luke's X-Wing because no one communicated with which Legos they were buying him. Well, i walked into his put.

Speaker 2:

I walk into his playroom, one is put together. The other two are boxes. I said, huh, what you going to do with those? I don't know. Maybe give them away. Left it at that. Ari goes up like a week or two later and she see the stairs. I'm sure you know you should give one of those to Tanner. He's like you know what. You're right, tanner can have it. I was like yo, this nine year old is awesome. And now it's in my office.

Speaker 1:

Hey, you got it now. Now you're uh, you have, you have something, You have something I don't. I wish I had the space for it, but I don't yet, So I I'm willing to wait.

Speaker 2:

I do. I have a Boba Boba Fett Starship. It's slave one. I'm sorry, I don't even care. It was slave one for years. Just like I get it. I get it, but it's still slave one to me. It will always be slave one to me, True.

Speaker 1:

No, it's true, I'm with you there. Plus, when, when I used to play, when I used to play the shadows of the empire and 64 game um, you know, just being able to battle Boba Fett with him and then him in the slave one, it was just like wow, this thing is way too strong. I don't know if I'm going to be able to beat it, but I eventually did So it's. It's definitely still the slave one. I don't, i don't care, i don't care.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, i'm with you there. I don't care That about. Does it for things that news wise that we've missed over the last few months? I think the only other thing we wanted to talk about is we will be going to fan expo again this year in Boston. Do you have to remember what weekends? that is the first weekend of August, yeah, so that.

Speaker 1:

So for those who are listening in and have an interest, that is going to be August 4, 4, 5th and 6th down in Boston at the convention center. Tanner and I will be excuse me we'll be there the fifth. Yeah, we'll be there. The Tanner and I will be there Saturday August 5th. It's projected to have quite a lineup for actors and actresses this year, So let me just You, you are trying to meet one in particular.

Speaker 1:

Yes, and I did get the tickets for, so I'm really excited to see I got tickets to meet Hayden Christensen, everyone.

Speaker 2:

So the Hayden Christensen So.

Speaker 1:

I'm very, very excited to meet and get to get a photo op with him in person.

Speaker 2:

So I, you, I'm not going to do any of that. That's not me. I hate that. I talked about it last year, about how I just feel like it's not the way I'd ever want to meet. A fan I mean a celebrity is paying out of me. I understand that, i get it, it's just not for me. I hope that you tell me that he looks happy when you see that because that man was in hiding forever because people ridiculed him for Anakin Skywalker. That man is a legend. He deserves all of the love that he is getting now.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so the so, according to the lineup for fan expo 2023, is Hayden Christensen, jason Lee, who's in clerks to, or my name is Earl Rosario Dawson, zachary Levi, marina Becker in I think I'm saying that right. She is in Deadpool, sam Raimi, the director, danny Trejo. I mean, if you don't know who, if you don't know who Danny Trejo is, then you need to do some homework.

Speaker 2:

I have his cookbook, guys, i have his cookbook. There are some really cool recipes in Trejo's tacos cookbook.

Speaker 1:

I mean it can't be some authentic style Mexican, mexican.

Speaker 2:

Although, although I will say this and I'll call him out on air, he does not make carne asada Correct. It has soy sauce in the recipe. There is no soy sauce and carne asada. That might be his personal preference. That just might be his personal preference. Amen, now I look now.

Speaker 1:

Fair enough With with hit. As well as next to Danny Trejo, we have the William Shatner from Star Trek. Next up, we have Bonnie Wright, who played Jenny Weasley. We also have Henry Winkler. Henry Winkler is a great actor. He is in the odds. He's also in the movie Click as Adam Sandler's character's father.

Speaker 2:

He's in Little Nicky as because he gets bees thrown at him.

Speaker 1:

He's in quite a few Sandler movies. He's in Click.

Speaker 2:

Yep, he's in the water boy.

Speaker 1:

He's in the water boy Gatorade H2O Gatorade as the, as the head coach, that's right. Miss Ashley Eckstein, which I was able to meet last year very, very briefly She was a sweetheart. The great and awesome Emily Swallow, who is not only the armorer but is also God's sister in Supernatural. We have Mr Stephen Amell, vivian Lyra Blair, who is the young Leia from the Kenobi.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we are good for her, get it, get her on. Get her on the circuit Young. Get her on the circuit Young. If her career doesn't pan out, she could still make money.

Speaker 1:

I have a feeling that she is going to cling right next to Hayden, rosario and Ashley, like they're all going to be. like if you hurt Vivian, we're going to destroy you.

Speaker 2:

The real power move would have been to have her on the lineup last year, when even McGregor was there. Oh man, that would have been. That would have been the real power move, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Garrett Hedlund. Garrett Hedlund plays Kevin Flynn in Tron Legacy. Don't care, yeah, there's him. Gabriel, luna Gabriel. Luna Gabriel is in the last of us TV series.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Peter Weller, which was the original RoboCop, And we have three of the office characters Brian Baumgartner, Leslie David Baker and the great Creed Bratton.

Speaker 2:

What? Okay, no, i guess. No, i'm going on and I'm not. I don't normally buy some of these things, but I am going to find the. Oh my God, i don't know. Who do I get For Ari? Well, you'll have to talk about this. I like I got to see what this is going to cost.

Speaker 1:

It's probably going to be big money And if you're going to get tickets, you might want to get tickets like now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to do. I mean, I'm trying to. I got to figure it out because now that I know that that the office is there, I don't know who she's going to want more.

Speaker 1:

Well, you have. Oh then, and the chili you have. I mean Creed Bratton's pretty funny too, I like him.

Speaker 2:

I can get. No, ok, so, no, no, no, i can get. I'm looking at this. I can do all three. OK, i got this. I'll talk to you off air.

Speaker 1:

OK.

Speaker 2:

All right, that's a good, that's a that'll be a good present for her, i think.

Speaker 1:

OK.

Speaker 2:

Sounds good.

Speaker 1:

All right.

Speaker 2:

But, but yes, we, we are going to fan Expo again. I'm not cosplaying again this year. I just life has been too crazy. You're not going to. I didn't have time to create my Darth Revan costume again.

Speaker 1:

No, that's totally OK, and I will not either, but that's that's pretty much one thing. Are we going?

Speaker 2:

to do matching? Are we going to do matching Roosevelt shirts? Is that what we said? Yeah, I'm not matching but like not matching but Roosevelt.

Speaker 1:

I think that's what we thought.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, i'd be down to do that. I'd be down, totally down. I love, i love a nice shirt And if it's better, i'm wearing peaches today. Now, put some Star Wars characters on and be perfect, and I would wear to work once a week just to like, rub it in. Yes, i am a Star Wars nerd.

Speaker 1:

Yes, Yeah, I'm thinking maybe I should get. I did see that they released more to the Star Wars collection on Roosevelt's and they have the trench run and that one looks really good.

Speaker 2:

I also really just like the best car one. All right, i think that about does it, man We've caught? I mean we. I can't wait to get back on the mic again with you next week. So next week we're going to dive right into Video games, i think, yeah video games sounds pretty good.

Speaker 1:

We could discuss more on Jedi survivor.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I got a lot to talk about that. I got.

Speaker 1:

I'm just about to beat it So as well as my input on a few games that I've been playing not just tears of the kingdom, but there's a few others that I've been playing that I really want to discuss too. So next week next week we got a pretty good lineup for games. In the meantime, though, after this episode releases, if you guys have any ideas for games that you and Tanner would like for us to talk about, please let us know on all social media platform.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, probably Twitter and Instagram for the most part. The only reason I think we have a Facebook page at this point is because it's needed for the Instagram. I hate Facebook, like I said. fair enough, but thanks for listening, guys. And the Nexus is back. I don't know if it's better than ever. We're still getting to the swing of things but it will be better than ever Moving forward.

Speaker 1:

Snowball will take it baby steps And pretty soon we're going to be stepping across like giant, stretch like giants.

Speaker 2:

So we'll get there. Hopefully we have, hopefully we have more experiences like orchard works in the future too.

Speaker 1:

Yes, 100 percent. So, like always, we hope to see you all in the Nexus. Stay hydrated everyone Stay cool, especially this major drink Gatorade. It's, it gets hot, it gets hot.

Speaker 2:

It gets real hot. Eat sodium and water are very important this time of year.
